Jascha nemtsov biography of martin

The pianist and musicologist Jascha Nemtsov was born in Magadan (Siberia) in 1963 and grew up in Saint Petersburg where he graduated from a special music school and was awarded a gold medal.

He then continued his musical education at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory where he graduated with a concert diploma, with distinction. He lives in Berlin (Germany).

By now he has recorded nearly forty CDs, featuring numerous world premiere recordings and a vast spectrum of recordings from Romantic compositions such as Liszt and Raff to Turkish music (Saygun), Bartok, Shostakovich, Zaderatsky, Weinberg and to Shchedrin and Balakauskas.

"Jascha Nemtsov presents himself as a worthy descendant of Liszt and his pupils", so the German magazine "Fono Forum" in November of 2008 on the occasion of Nemtsov's CD with Hungarian Rhapsodies by Franz Liszt.
